Event Embed Shows Login Screen or Blank Page

If your SimpleEvents.io event embed is showing a login screen or appears blank, it’s likely caused by cached or corrupted cookies in your browser.

Troubleshooting:

This is a quick fix — and you can usually resolve the issue by clearing site-specific cookies.

This article walks you through how to do that using Google Chrome (or any browser based on Chrome, like Brave or Edge).

🔍 Symptoms

You may experience:

  • A blank screen where the event embed should appear.

  • A login prompt instead of the event form or dashboard.

  • An embed that previously worked, suddenly stops displaying.

✅ Solution: Clear Site-Specific Storage in Chrome

⚠️ This only applies to Chrome or Chromium-based browsers.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open Developer Tools:

    • Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser.

    • Go to More tools → Developer tools.

  2. Go to the "Application" Tab:

    • Once Developer Tools opens, click the "Application" tab near the top.

    • If it opens to another tab (like “Elements”), just look for “Application” and click it.

  3. Find Local Storage:

    • In the left sidebar, expand “Local Storage.”

    • Look for:
      https://app.simpleevents.io

  4. Clear Site Data:

    • Right-click the simpleevents.io entry under Local Storage.

    • Select “Clear” from the context menu.

  5. Refresh the Page:

    • Close Developer Tools.

    • Refresh the page where the event embed lives.

The embed should now load correctly.

💡 Why This Happens

From time to time, SimpleEvents.io deploys updates that impact local browser storage. If old data remains in your browser’s cache or cookies, it can cause the embed to break or load incorrectly.

Clearing the local storage for simpleevents.io resets that connection and ensures you’re working with a fresh version.

🧰 Bonus Tip

If you're embedding SimpleEvents inside HubSpot or another tool, and your users are encountering this issue:

  • Ask them to follow the same steps above.

  • Or, provide a short link to this article so they can troubleshoot it themselves.
